My name is Mark Hartenau and I’ve been a corporate videographer since the millennium. I’ve filmed at corporate events and conferences put on by:
- NVIDIA
- Lytx
- Good Feet
- California Mortgage Expo
- The Toy Foundation
- San Diego Youth Symphony
- Various autism organizations
to name some that standout.
The Gear
The equipment I use is ideal for recording both video and sound in corporate event environments.
I use professional cameras like the Sony HXR-NX5U NXCAM pro camcorder. It’s allows me to capture broadcast-quality video of your speakers giving their presentations. I generally stand toward the rear of the room with it and zoom-in to the subjects on stage (following them as they move). For audio, I prefer a line from the soundboard but I can also just record the PA speakers.
I can also position a second camera to capture the entirety of the stage and place a third one near any screen that might be on stage to record close-ups of the presenter’s slides and incorporate them into the final videos.
In the case of an event where there is no PA system in the room, I can clip a Sennheiser lavaliere microphone onto your presenter (so I have loud and clear audio for the video).

Video Editing & Processing
I can either hand over the raw video files at the end of the event or I can process/edit them:
- Processing (compressing and converting the files to something more shareable and space saving)
- Light Editing (trimming “dead space” from the video files)
- Full Editing (when more than one camera is used, edit all the footage from all cameras into a final video or videos)
My Experience Beyond a Corporate Videographer
I have an extensive video production background going back to the late 1990’s:
- I did the video production for an Amazon Prime Video reality show on boat racing called “Crackerbox Racing”. (2018)
- I did freelance video production on countless TV commercials, infomercials, music videos, corporate training videos, web-based promotional videos for businesses of all sizes. (2008-2018)
- I produced my own weekly music TV show that started on public access television in San Diego, Del Mar, and Carlsbad and later grew to U.S.-wide syndication (120 million households) via America One Network. (2001-2008)
- I worked for an advertising agency (Think Tank Advertising) where I filmed and edited TV commercials. (1999-2001)
- I was educated by Torrey Pines High School video/film class and Palomar College Cinema Program. (1998-2000)
